Alfa Romeo Tonale has finally arrived in China. The Italian automaker, aiming to establish itself as a global premium brand, launched its Tonale SUV in Beijing last Friday. The model comes in two versions: the Sprint version, priced at 298,800 yuan (approximately $40,840), and the Veloce version at 347,800 yuan (about $47,533). The Tonale boasts a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, exclusively available in China, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum power output of 268 horsepower and a maximum torque of 430 Newton-meters.

With six exterior color options to choose from, the vehicle features a sleek 12.3-inch fully digital display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen for an infotainment system designed specifically for Chinese consumers, with input from local partners. Other notable features include wireless charging and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Alfa Romeo Tonale also offers level 2 driver assistance functions. Zhang Jun, the General Manager of Alfa Romeo China, stated that the Italian brand is committed to introducing its latest products to Chinese customers. Alfa Romeo, part of Stellantis, was founded in Milan, Italy, in 1910.
The debut of Alfa Romeo Tonale in China is just the first of many innovations as the historic brand aims to become a key player in the premium car market in China in the coming years. Also on the horizon for the Chinese market in the next few years are the new generations of Giulia and Stelvio, as well as two E-segment cars. These will include a large-sized coupe sedan and an SUV nearly 5 meters in length, also available in a 7-seater version. Finally, there are rumors of a possible launch of a luxury electric minivan designed specifically for that market.
