The all-new Dodge Charger offers performance choices via multi-energy powertrain options, including the 550-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. (shown here) powered by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane High Output engine and the 420-horsepower Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. fueled by the 3.0L Twin Turbo Hurricane Standard Output engine.

Trump’s trade war could complicate matters. Earlier this week, Stellantis halted production at its Windsor assembly plant, where the Charger and the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager minivans are produced. This has led some to speculate that the shutdown could delay the launch of the Charger Sixpack. There remains a veil of uncertainty about whether production will actually resume, currently set for April 21.

Dodge Charger Sixpack, possible delays

The long-awaited debut of the Dodge Charger Sixpack, the gasoline-powered version designated to revitalize sales of the model amid a tepid reception for the electric variant, could experience an unexpected postponement.

The potential cause? The dynamics of the Trump-promoted trade war pose a serious threat to the supply chain and logistics. Added to this is the recent halt in production at the Windsor plant, where the Charger is assembled along with the Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager minivans. This event heightens fears of a possible postponement of the Sixpack launch.

The potential debut of the Dodge Charger Sixpack is closely linked to the reactivation of production, theoretically scheduled for April 21. However, statements made to CTV News by James Stewart, president of Unifor Local 444, indicate that the company has not yet issued any final announcements.

Stewart clarified that analysis of the impact of the duties is ongoing and that a formal decision on future production plans will be announced in the next two weeks, hinting at possible changes. This situation of uncertainty adds to the fragilities in the current automotive market. Should operations resume by the end of the month, the launch of the Dodge Charger Sixpack should occur without any particular problems. An extension of the production lockout, on the other hand, could inevitably lead to slippage in the launch date or poor initial availability of the model.

Although it is too early to draw definitive conclusions about the future of the legendary Dodge Challenger, one exciting news is already a reality: the confirmation of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six Hurricane engine. This groundbreaking powertrain comes in two variants: a standard one with an impressive 420 horsepower (313 kW) and a high-performance one that puts out an impressive 550 horsepower (410 kW).

All this represents a significant leap forward from the previous iconic 5.7- and 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engines, capable of 375 hp and 485 hp, respectively, in the previous Challenger generation. But that’s not all there is to it. Increasingly persistent rumors speculate a resounding return of the Hemi engine by the end of 2026, opening up even more exciting future scenarios for fans of the Dodge brand and high-performance muscle cars.
