The 2023 season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) witnessed the exciting debut of the Ferrari 499P, a racing car that emerged as the winner in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. This triumph inspired Ferrari to create a model for its customers, which was unveiled at Mugello during the Ferrari World Finals, giving birth to the Ferrari 499P Modificata.
The Ferrari 499P Modificata is destined for a select group of customers and has been designed based on a racing car rather than a production model. This choice enables Ferrari to bypass the constraints imposed by technical regulations, paving the way for significant modifications aimed at maximizing the performance of the 499P.
Ferrari 499P Modificata: the Le Mans-winning hypercar is now available for customers who seek track excitement
The new Ferrari 499P Modificata features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, push-rod type double-wishbone suspension, and an advanced braking system that includes an innovative brake-by-wire system, allowing the front electric axle to recover energy during braking.
The vehicle’s setup has been meticulously reworked compared to the competition version, emphasizing the driving enjoyment and predictability of the vehicle’s behavior in any condition. The new Ferrari 499P Modificata is equipped with Pirelli tires sized 310/710-18 at the front and 340/710-18 at the rear, promoting rapid warm-up and exceptional grip. Additionally, Pirelli has developed specific Rain tires, ensuring performance and safety even in wet conditions.
The beating heart of this model is a hybrid powertrain consisting of a centrally located 3-liter V6 internal combustion engine and an electric motor on the rear axle. This combination delivers 640 kW (equivalent to 870 hp), with the electric motor contributing 200 kW (272 hp) and being powered by an 800V battery that recharges during braking phases. This powertrain is paired with a 7-speed sequential gearbox.
To provide an even more exhilarating driving experience, the “Push To Pass” feature has been introduced, a button located behind the steering wheel that allows the driver to temporarily access an additional 120 kW (163 hp) of power, in addition to the 520 kW (707 hp) normally available. This power boost only operates when the accelerator is fully engaged and for a maximum of 7 seconds.
The price of the new Ferrari 499P Modificata is not within everyone’s reach, starting at approximately 5.1 million euros, excluding taxes.
