Jeep won’t introduce the compact SUV Jeep Avenger in Brazil, at least not for now. There are rumors that Stellantis rejected this idea for South America. Recently, there has been talk about Jeep bringing a new compact SUV to compete at the top of its class, but for now, it seems the Avenger won’t be made or sold in Brazil, and the Jeep Renegade is to blame.
Jeep Avenger: No South America for this compact SUV?
The problem is that adapting the manufacturing and assembly lines would make the Avenger‘s prices too similar to the Renegade, so it can’t fit into the Jeep lineup here. Importing it from Europe would also make it too expensive, almost like the Compass. So, Jeep’s offerings in Brazil will remain the same with the Renegade, Compass, Commander, Wrangler, Gladiator, and Grand Cherokee, which is the most expensive SUV they’ve recently launched.
We don’t know yet if Jeep will introduce a different smaller SUV under the Renegade or if they’ll make space for Citroën, Peugeot, and Fiat in this category. Keep in mind that the Jeep Avenger is significant for the American manufacturer within the Stellantis group. It’s their first electric car and the first Jeep designed for Europeans. The Avenger also comes with gasoline options, like a 1.2-liter engine for Italy and Spain. A similar strategy was expected for Brazil, with the compact SUV offering non-electric versions. We’ll see if these rumors are confirmed and when the Avenger might arrive in South America, if at all.
